2015 Mariner Class Association Rendezvous

August 2-4 - Kent Island, MD to Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum

WHO: All Mariner Class Association members, family and friends.

WHAT: This event is meant to be a fun get-together for Mariner owners. Registration includes launch fees from Kent Island Narrows, two-night docking at St. Michaels Maritime Museum, one pizza party under the Hooper Straight lighthouse, one dinner at the Crab Claw restaurant and a museum pass and use of the museum’s restrooms and showers.

There is plenty to do for sailors and non-sailors. The museum has a large collection of Dinghies and Sharpie boats that were used to harvest the Chesapeake Bay. The town, which is only a block away, is a great little walking town with shops and antique stores.

Visitors may share in the activities at a special price that will include Museum entrance and dinner. There are Inns nearby that are a little pricy; but reserve early because it’s near Washington DC ($$) and this is a busy little historic town.

LIMITED CAPACITY - NO MORE THAN 20 BOATS!

Take note that there are only fixed docks - no floating docks, so fender-boards will be required.
Also, due to the tides at the Museum, a four-foot ladder will be required to get from your Mariner to the docks.

WHEN: Sunday, August 2nd through Tuesday, August 4th.

WHERE: Kent Island Narrows and Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum, 213 N. Talbot Street, St. Michaels, MD, 21663.

2015 Rendezvous Itinerary

Sunday, August 2nd: Set-up boats for launch at Kent Island Narrows to launch. Be in the water by 10:00 a.m. There can be a swift current at this location so boats should prepare to clear the area quickly. There is a Best Western on the island close to the Narrows; book early!

Try to arrive Saint Michaels Maritime Museum between 1500 1600 hours. We will be assigned individual dock space. These are not floating docks so prepare for tying up with room for a 3 foot tide. Low tide will complicate embarking, debarking. A short ladder or other creation for our low boats will help.

1800 hours, Pizza party: Meet under the Hooper Lighthouse for Pizza and soft drinks. There is lodging close by for those not sleeping on their boat. Reserve early, the Hambleton Inn B&B, since 1860, is closest.

Monday August 3rd: On your own. Visit the museum, sail the local waters, or enjoy a boat tour of the Miles River.

1800 hours, Dinner at the Crab Claw Restaurant: Dinner is included; but drinks are on your own.  Prizes to be awarded: best Mariner (by vote), longest distance trailered, oldest mariner (excluding Russ), oldest combined boat and crew.

Tuesday August 4th: 10:00 hours, leave for Kent Island Narrows. Arrive Kent Island Narrows at 1500 to 1600 hours. Tidal current may slow or advance arrival time. Detailed information forthcoming.

Cost: $181 per boat and Skipper. Add $67 for crew per boat. Non-boating visitors $53 per person; which includes Museum entrance fee for two days and dinner at the Crab Claw Restaurant. Deduct $3 for seniors and juniors, deduct $6 for under 12 years of age.
